As with all fine things in life your pieces of Rachel Whitehead Jewellery need a little care and attention to keep them looking at their best.
Just like many precious metals sterling silver tarnishes. To prolong its shine, allow perfumes and lotions to dry before putting on your jewellery, if you can, put on your jewellery last when dressing.
Remember to store your jewellery separately. We recommend the use of plastic zip lock bags to stop your pieces scratching and knotting together, this will also reduce exposure to the air which can promote tarnish.
Gold vermeil is a layer of gold over sterling silver. Over time this layer can wear away. To prolong the life of the gold plating please follow the care instructions for sterling silver.
Remove your jewellery when applying creams and lotions as build up can dull the look of precious stones.
Pearls react well to the natural oils on your skin and this is the best way to maintain their lustre. Store your pearl jewellery in it’s box to allow the pearls to breathe. Use a soft, dry cloth to gently clean your pearls
To clean your jewellery we recommend only a gentle rub with very soft baby toothbrush and warm soapy water. Make sure you dry your piece completely before storing.
Always remove your jewellery before exercise, swimming, showering and doing house work as water and chlorine can cause severe damage to stones and metal.
