Bumblebee Coin Necklace

Perfect for layering, the bumblebee coin necklace features a detailed, textured bee in positive relief.

The bumblebee traditionally represents hard work, dedication and community. The bee coin necklace was designed as a reminder that no challenge is insurmountable.

The bee coin necklace’s classic medallion design lends itself really well to layering with other necklaces. I'm a firm believer that one necklace is never enough!

All of our jewellery is lovingly designed and handmade in my Birmingham studio with help from casters and stone setters in the historic Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.

Size & Materials

  • Available in: Sterling silver, gold vermeil, solid 9ct gold and solid 18ct gold.
  • Measures 15mm across
  • Available with or without a chain

Chains are supplied at a length of 18 or 20 inches as, please get in touch if you're looking for a different length.

How is it made?

I designed the Bee Coin Necklace in 2017.

I CAD modelled the first pendant (this usually takes hours and hours with lots of revisions). Once happy with the design the pendant was 3D printed. A latex mould was then made so multiples of the pendant can be cast.

Your Bee Coin Necklace is re-created through the process of lost wax casting. The raw casting is cleaned up, buffed and polished in my workshop.

Plated pieces are given a thick coating of 18ct gold by our lovely plater based in the Jewellery Quarter.

Solid gold pieces are hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay office and if you order a chain the pendant is strung on a delicate, yet strong chain manufactured by our supplier based in Shropshire, UK.

I handmake all of my designs from my workshop in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.

All of our jewellery is made by Rachel in her workshop in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter in the United Kingdom.

I take a lot of my inspiration from the British summer time so it's important that my jewellery be made here.

I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so many talented casting companies, stone setters, hand engravers and gold platers in Birmingham and I think it's vital that we support them and keep their disciplines alive and available for generations of designers to come.

When you buy a piece of Rachel Whitehead Jewellery you're helping keep the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter the vibrant and vital centre of manufacture that it has been and should remain for years to come.
