Flying Bee Coin Necklace

£125

Description

Featuring a busy bumblebee in flight the Flying Bee Coin Necklace was made to celebrate the hard working and essential fluffy bumblebees who are a much welcomed signal that the warmer months are on the way.

The pendant's classic medallion design lends itself perfectly to every day wear, I'm rarely seen without mine!

All of our jewellery is lovingly designed and handmade in my Birmingham workshop with help from casters and stone setters in the historic Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.

Size & Materials

  • Available in: Sterling silver, solid 9ct gold and solid 18ct gold.
  • Measures 15mm across
  • Available with or without a chain

Chains are supplied at a length of 18 or 20 inches as, please get in touch if you're looking for a different length.

How is it made?

I designed the original Bee Coin in 2017 and the Flying Bee came soon after.

I CAD modelled the first pendant (this usually takes many hours with lots of revisions and head scratching). Once happy with the design the pendant was 3D printed. A latex mould was then made so multiples of the pendant could be cast.

Your Bee Coin Necklace is re-created through the process of lost wax casting. The raw casting is cleaned up, buffed and polished in my workshop.

Vermeil pieces are given a thick coating of 18ct gold by our lovely plater base in the Jewellery Quarter.

Solid gold pieces are hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay office and if you order a chain the pendant is strung on a delicate, yet strong chain manufactured by our supplier based in Shropshire, UK.

Production time

I handmake all of my designs from my workshop in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.

Handmade jewellery takes time and I don't always have all pieces in stock, so your piece may be specially made just for you, making can take up to three weeks.

Solid gold pieces are special order and therefore take up to 4-6 weeks to make.

All of our jewellery is made by Rachel in her workshop in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter in the United Kingdom.

I take a lot of my inspiration from the British summer time so it's important that my jewellery be made here.

I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so many talented casting companies, stone setters, hand engravers and gold platers in Birmingham and I think it's vital that we support them and keep their disciplines alive and available for generations of designers to come.

When you buy a piece of Rachel Whitehead Jewellery you're helping keep the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter the vibrant and vital centre of manufacture that it has been and should remain for years to come.
